What’s the Big Idea?

The idea behind this site is pretty simple. It used to be the challenge was finding health information. Now, with "Dr. Google", it is finding too much information. My patients felt that they needed a resource that boiled down the key issues and then pointed them in the right direction. They also wanted something that was less "generic" and had some personality. My Favourite Medicine is a non-profit site where I distill out the best health resources and put them in one place.

About Dr. Mike

I am a family physician at St. Michael's Hospital and an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto. I also run something called the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. My interest is engaging users and people with varied skills, particularly creatives, and mushing them together with researchers and clinicians to re-invent patient education.
